A two day workshop for parents & professionals, aimed at anybody supporting a child or young person who is at risk or displaying socially isolating or challenging and unsafe behaviours.


A two day workshop for parents & professionals, aimed at anybody supporting a child or young person who is at risk or displaying socially isolating or challenging and unsafe behaviours.

We beleive there is no one answer to reducing challenging behaviour, and this course aims to give you the tools and understanding to build you own toolbox of support for your young person.

The techniques and principles covered in this course can be applied to both younger children and teenagers. Time will be spent allowing participants to adapt the principlas to their particular childs needs. A diagnosis is not required to attend this course as the aim is to allow you to create a tool box of techniques that would suit your young person, as well as understand the driving factors behind the behaviour to allow you to create approaches of your own.

Our trainer Sam Harris has over 10 years expereince delivering behaviour support to young people with challenging behaviours with a vairty of different needs including Autism, ADHD/ADD, Oppositional and Conduct disorders, Learning disability and attachment difficutlies. He will draw upon approaches from a Positive Behaviour Support, Narrative theraputic approaches, developmental approaches as well as his own expereinces of de-escalating young people at their most distressed times. He has been working with families specifcally for over 5 years, helping many make adjsutments that have made huge impacts into their lives and significantly reduced challenging behaviours in the home.

The course runs from 9:30am until 2:30pm each day with an hour for questions and specific discussions after for those who can stay on.

On this course you will cover:

* An understanding of Challenging Behaviour, risk factors and it's impacts

* Looking at how specific dianosis might impact Challenging Behaviour

* Have time and activities to better understand what might be driving the behaviour of your child or young person

* Share epxereinces and ideas with other course particiapnts

* Create a tool box of approaches and strategies for your young person

* Practice and perfect techniques and strategies to both reduce the behaviour and to de-escalate more effectively.

Both parents and professionals are welcome and time will be spent to ensure all perspectives are heard and respected.
